More B&W from Lanyu Island

As if presaged by the contemporary times that swallowed it up, the culturally rare tribes of Lanyu Island now only find their tribal expressions alive in the ceremonial entities they construct for the Chinese tourists that come to see them. It seems similar to the Native American culture that still struggles to find a foothold in the changing times of the populist political machine. I find it such a shame to see how those seeking progress see no way other than to demolish the past in order to pave the way for it. We can live alongside it, for there is still plenty of world left for us all to live in.
